Finalists announced for Combat Challenge
Senior Airman Philip Kaneshiro, 5th Combat Communications Group, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. is presented the Combat Challenge Academic Award by Col. Theresa Giorlando, 689th Combat Communications Wing commander and Chief Master Sgt. Bryce Maxson, 689th CCW command chief, at the Combat Challenge Award Banquet held at Tinker AFB April 19. Combat Challenge is the newly incorporated Combat Communications portion of Air Force Space Command’s Guardian Challenge. Airman Kanshiro scored the highest on the self-aid and buddy care test portion of the challenge. Combat Challenge consisted of six events that took place April 17-19. Derick Schmidt, 252nd Combat Communications Group, Washington Air National Guard tackles the “overhead press” portion of the movement course of Team Tactical Challenge at Combat Challenge April 18 at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. The “overhead press” consists of pressing 30-pound ammo cans 25 times as fast as possible. Combat Challenge is the newly incorporated Combat Communications portion of Space Command’s Guardian Challenge. The movement course is comprised of several low/high crawl challenges, teams must transition between each challenge by performing a variety of carries including the fore-and-aft carry, two-man support carry and two-hand seat carry.
