1/6/2011 - LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Maj. Gen. Richard Webber, 24th Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Slater, 24th Air Force command chief, surprised Tech. Sgt. Jason Nawrot, 624th Operations Center lead satellite communications systems strategist, with a promotion to master sergeant through the Stripes for Exceptional Performers program at Lackland Air Force Base Jan. 3. Sergeant Nawrot's wife, Renee, and two children, Ben and Ethan, were present to help the new master sergeant pin on his stripes.

Each year, the Air Force authorizes senior commanders to select a very limited number of Airmen with exceptional potential for promotion under the STEP program. Sergeant Nawrot, a radio frequency transmission systems craftsman (3D173) with 16.5 years time-in-service and nearly five years time-in-grade. Sergeant Nawrot's career-long record of sustained superior performance includes recognition by the Air Force Space Command Inspector General as an IG "superior performer" during 24th Air Force's recent full operational capability assessment.
