The 837th Cyberspace Operations Squadron (837 COS), located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., provides premier Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) maneuver/mission assurance capabilities to its mission partners.  The 837 COS has administrative control over three Cyberspace Protection Teams (CPTs) and is responsible for organizing, training and equipping its CPTs.  Each CPT is postured to conduct tailored DCO missions via a three-phase Survey, Secure and Protect employment methodology.

To organize, train, and equip Cyber Protection Teams providing mission assurance through Defensive Cyberspace Operations.

Vision:
To develop resilient and elite cyberspace Airmen.

People:
The 837 COS is comprised of approximately 120 military, civilian and contractor positions.

Organization:

The 837 COS is asubordinate unit under the 688th Cyberspace Operations Group, 688th Cyberspace Wing, 24th Air Force at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.  The 837 COS is one of five defensive cyberspace operations squadrons under the 688 COG.  The 837 COS presents forces to two mission partners – United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and Joint Force Headquarters-DOD Network (JFHQ-DoDIN). 

USTRANSCOM:  The DOD provider of full-spectrum global mobility solutions and enabling capabilities to customers in peace and war, providing the United States with the most responsive and strategic mobility capability the world has ever seen.

JFQ-DoDIN):  A globally interconnected set of information capabilities for collecting, processing, storing, disseminating, and managing information on demand to warfighters and policy makers.  It includes owned and leased communications, software (including applications), data, security services and National Security Systems.

Cyberspace Capabilities:

The 837 COS presents forces to the United States Cyber Command as part of the Cyber Mission Forces construct.  Forces are presented as Cyberspace Protection Teams each comprised of five Squads with specialized capabilities:  Mission Protection, Cyberspace Readiness, Cyber Support, Discover and Counter-Infiltration and Cyber Threat Emulation.

History:
On 1 December 2015 the 837 COS was activated immediately following the establishment of the 688th Cyberspace Operations Group.
