The 38 CEIG, Tinker AFB, Okla., is a subordinate unit under the 688th Cyberspace Wing, 24th Air Force, JBSA-Lackland, Texas.


The 38th Operations Support Squadron (38 OSS) located at Tinker Air Force Base (AFB), Okla., is part of the 38th Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group (38 CEIG) also at Tinker AFB.

Mission:
Provide superior tools and services for cyberspace warriors to successfully protect and defend AF network domains. 

Vision: 
Ensure optimum operational support to the war fighter by utilizing all available tools and flexibilities. 

People:
There are 39 funded authorizations in 38 OSS and approximately 15 contractors are employed via the Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS) contract.   

Organization:
The 38 OSS and 38 CEIG are part of the 688th Cyberspace Wing headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland AFB, Texas, which is aligned under 24th Air Force (24 AF) and Air Force Space Command. The Squadron is organized into two flights.

Capabilities:
Missions Support Flight:  Includes the Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS) and the CIPS Visualization Component (CVC), an AF enterprise database that tracks Engineering Installation (EI) requirements from cradle to grave and provides a collaborative environment in which communicators from across the enterprise can jointly manage the cyberspace infrastructure.  The flight also manages personnel, manpower, training and security for civilian and military personnel at three different bases.  Finally, the flight provides management and oversight of the Group’s Non-classified Internet Protocol (NIPR) and Secure Internet Protocol (SIPR) networks including help desk support for the standard desktop configuration and workstation trouble shooting/resolution as an extension of the base Network Control Center.
Resources Support Flight:  Provides timely and relevant financial management information, financial analysis, and provides for the planning, budgeting, and execution of 38 CEIG mission needs in addition to managing and providing an audit trail for obligation and expenditure of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) EI Counsel-approved projects AF wide. In addition, OSR manages Area D (89 acres) on behalf of the host base – sustain, improve and repair.

History:
Functions performed by the Operations Support Squadron were previously accomplished by the Program Control Division, 38 CEG/PC.  On 6 January 2012, the 38th Cyberspace Engineering Group was re-designated as the 38th Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group and the 38th Operations Support Squadron was activated.
