624th Operations Center


The 624th Operations Center serves as the command and control element of the 24th Air Force. Its mission is to "Command and Control cyberspace forces: Operate, Defend, and Engage."  The 624 OC consists of four divisions: Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, Combat Plans, Combat Operations, and Strategy and reports directly to the 24th Air Force commander. The 624 OC receives orders and tasks from United States Cyber Command and in turn tasks 24th Air Force subordinate units to perform a wide range of cyber missions in support of Air Force and joint force commanders.

Lineage. Designated as 145th Airways and Air Communications Service Squadron on 14 May 1948.Organized on 1 Jun 1948.  Redesignated as 1957th Airways and Air Communications Service Squadron on 1 Oct 1948; 1957 Airways and Air Communications Service Group on 18 Sep 1959;  Headquarters, 1957th Airways and Air Communications Service Group on 8 Oct 1959; Headquarters, 1957th Communications Group on 1 Jul 1961; 1957th Information  Systems Group on 1 Aug 1984; 1957th Communications Group on 1 Nov 1986.  Inactivated on 13 Apr 1992.   Redesignated as 624th Operations Center on 11 Aug 2009.  Activated on 18 Aug 2009.   

Assignments. 71st Airways and Air Communications Service Group, 1 Jun 1948; 1810th Airways and Air Communications Service Group, 1 Oct 1948; Pacific Communications Area, 1 Nov 1957; 1957th Airways and Air Communications (later, 1957th Communications) Group, 8 Oct 1959; Pacific Communications Area (later, Pacific Communications Division; Pacific Information Systems Division; Pacific Communications Division), 8 Nov 1959; 15th Air Base Wing, 1 Oct 1990-13 Apr 1992.  Twenty-Fourth Air Force (Air Force Strategic), 18 Aug 2009-Present.

Stations. Hickam AFB, T. H. (later, Hawaii) 1 Jun 1948-13 Apr 1992.   Lackland AFB (Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland), TX, 18 Aug 2009-Present.

Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation: 1 Jan 1968-26 Jul 1969.
