Chief Master Sgt. Manuel Matute serves as the Superintendent of the 624th Operations Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He is the commander’s primary enlisted advisor and leads a team of 180 Airmen providing centralized command and control of 24th Air Force and AFCYBER forces comprised of over 800 operators executing seven weapon systems in 12 units across the globe. These forces build, operate, secure, and defend over $52B in key infrastructure, execute more than 19,000 operations per year, and engage with the enemy as directed by the Joint Force Headquarters - Cyber Commander. Additionally, the operations center oversees the execution of US Cyber Command and 24th Air Force operational orders supporting 10 Major Commands at 150 sites worldwide. In addition, he is the 24th AF 1B4X1 Functional Manager. In this role, he oversees the utilization and professional development of over 900 Cyber Warfare Operations Airmen.

Chief Matute enlisted in the Air Force in 1993 as a Computer Systems Programmer. He completed four assignments then was selected as part of an initial cadre of Cyber Defense Operators and led the creation of its Intial Skills Training Course. His operational experience includes Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, and ENDURING FREEDOM. Chief Matute’s past assignments include Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iceland, North Carolina, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Superintendent for the 91st Cyberspace Operations Squadron and the 92nd Cyberspace Operations Squadron, both at JBSA-Lackland, Texas.
